Report: Burress to miss season

Steelers veteran wide receiver Plaxico Burress is likely done for the season after surgery Monday morning to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

Burress, who began his 11-year career with the Steelers, was limited to four games last season with the Steelers and might opt to retire. The team placed him on the injured reserve list Tuesday.

Burress, 36, was a red-zone threat in his career, using his 6-foot-5 frame to leap over defenders in the end zone. His signature moment came while playing for the Giants when he hauled in the eventual game-winning touchdown with 35 seconds left in New York's 17-14 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

He has hauled in 64 touchdowns and racked up 8,499 yards in his career.
