Report: Bears hire former Saints salary cap analyst Joey Laine

The Chicago Bears have hired former New Orleans Saints salary cap analyst Joey Laine to be their director of football administration, according to a report by Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. According to Jahns, Laine will handle "all contract negotiations and salary cap management" for the Bears.

Laine has plenty of salary cap experience from his time with the Saints. He spent the last 11 years with the New Orleans franchise, dating back to his time as an intern in 2005, according to Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com.

Pace came over to the Bears from the Saints front office, so the GM already has a strong connection to his new hire. This isn't the first time Pace has dipped into his past personnel department, Woodbery notes, as the Bears hired former Saints scout Josh Lucas to be Chicago's director of player personnel.
