Redskins TE Derek Carrier scores a touchdown in his first start

With starting tight end Jordan Reed sidelined with several injuries, Washington Redskins tight end Derek Carrier got his first start of his career, and he made it a memorable one. Carrier scored a 7-yard touchdown to open up the scoring in the Week 5 game between the Redskins and Atlanta Falcons.

Carrier finished the game with 27 yards on two receptions. Originally billed as blocking tight end when he entered the NFL, Carrier finally has the opportunity to show what he can do in the passing game. Reed's recovery timetable is still undetermined, and he is dealing with three injuries at one time, so it makes sense to expect that we will see more of Carrier going forward.
