Redskins sign O.J. Atogwe

The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent free safety O.J. Atogwe, the team announced.

Atogwe, who turns 30 on Jun. 23, was due an $8 million roster bonus on Feb. 21, from the St. Louis Rams, which the team declined to pay.

Atogwe’s entire $3.5 million base salary for 2011 would have been guaranteed for skill and injury if he would have been on the roster on the 60th day of the new league year, which is still scheduled to begin on Mar. 4.

Atogwe was originally selected in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Free safety Kareem Moore started 11 games for the Redskins last season.
