Redskins' Orakpo, Meriweather injured

Washington Redskins Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Orakpo and safety Brandon Meriweather left Saturday night's preseason game against the Chicago Bears because of injuries.

Orakpo attempted to make a lunging tackle after Devin Hester caught a pass late in the first quarter of the 33-31 loss and missed. He stayed down for a few minutes as medical staff tended to him before walking gingerly off the field. Orakpo eventually had his left shoulder wrapped on the sideline.

Shortly after Orakpo went down, Meriweather had to be helped off because of a knee injury. He was hurt trying to tackle Michael Bush on an 8-yard touchdown run, right after Robert Griffin III lost a fumble.

Washington coach Mike Shanahan said Orakpo and Meriweather will go for MRIs, although he didn't specify when.

Redskins linebacker London Fletcher sat out the game because he wasn't feeling well. Shanahan wouldn't say if that was because of an injury or illness.
