Ray McDonald arrested on warrant

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested in California Wednesday on an outstanding warrant stemming from his 2010 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

McDonald, 27, was taken into custody after police stopped him for a traffic violation in Sunnyvale, about 40 miles south of San Francisco, at around 2:00am local time, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Officers reportedly learned of the outstanding arrest warrant in connection with his June 2010 DUI arrest in San Mateo County.

McDonald was released at approximately 7:00am, according to the report.

He became the second 49ers player to be arrested within the last two weeks. Linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested Jan. 28 on DUI charges in Miami.
