Ray Lewis isn't sure the Ravens can win AFC North without Suggs

The former defensive leader of the Ravens isn't sure his old team can win its division without its new defensive leader.

Ray Lewis, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year with the Ravens, told Stephen A. Smith on Sirius XM Radio that the loss of Terrell Suggs might be too much to overcome for Baltimore this season. Suggs suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 1's loss to Denver on Sunday.

"It’s going to be a really tough division with how well Cincinnati’s playing," Lewis said via the Ravens' official site. "Pittsburgh is looking OK until they get their rhythm going. I’m telling you, in this division, you need somebody to get after Big Ben. You need somebody to get after these quarterbacks.

"It's hard to replace a Terrell Suggs ... that man is an animal."

The Ravens were favored by many to win the AFC North and go deep into the playoffs.Only the Bengals were able to come away with a victory in Week 1 while the other three teams in the division lost. 

Remember that Baltimore finished 10-6 last season and made the postseason despite facing much adversity. Besides the Ray Rice saga, the Ravens also lost Dennis Pitta and Jimmy Smith, among others, to lengthy injuries.
