Ravens DE Brent Urban returns to practice

Baltimore Ravens defensive end Brent Urban has been cleared to return to practice after spending the first nine weeks of the season on short-term injured reserve list.

Urban, who tore his biceps early in training camp, is eligible to play this week against Jacksonville. Urban, a fourth-round pick out of Virginia in 2014, has yet to make his NFL debut after missing his rookie season with a torn ACL.

Head coach John Harbaugh still believes that Urban can make a difference for a defense that has sorely missed Terrell Suggs' pass-rushing presence.

“I don’t know if you’d say Brent Urban is going to be some kind of premier pass rusher,” Harbaugh said via the team's official site. “Maybe he’ll develop into that, and we’ll all be excited. But he’s going to pressure the quarterback. He’s going to get pushback. He’s going to get knockback.

Harbaugh added that the 6-foot-7 Urban will create problems for opposing quarterbacks because of his height.

"I think if nothing else – at the very least – he’s going to get batted balls, and that’s going to be good for us," Harbaugh said. "He’s such a young player. We’re going to have to find out what kind of a player he is once he gets out there and gets going again.”

The Ravens now have a 21-day window to activate Urban to the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
