Ravens cut long snapper Katula
The Baltimore Ravens cut veteran long snapper Matt Katula on Saturday, roughly two years after signing him to a five-year contract extension.
Releasing Katula created a roster spot for undrafted rookie free agent defensive back Brad Jones, who rejoined the team after being cut this spring.
Katula struggled at the end of last season primarily due to chronic tendinitis in his snapping elbow. The only remaining long snapper on the roster is Morgan Cox, an undrafted rookie from the University of Tennessee.
Cox handled all of the snapping duties during the Ravens' 17-12 preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium.
