Rams draft Utah State safety who used to be Edward Jones Dome janitor

Maurice Alexander could return to Edward Jones Dome this year. This time, though, he won'€™t be picking up trash in stands.

In one of the most amazing stories of the 2014 NFL draft, the St. Louis Rams selected Alexander, a former star safety at Utah State, in the fourth round Saturday with the 110th overall pick.

Just two years ago, Alexander'€™s NFL dreams took an ugly turn when he was kicked off the team and sentenced to a year in jail after punching a Utah State teammate in the face at a party. Alexander'€™s sentence was reduced to 45 days, but he was forced to return to his hometown of Eureka, Mo., where he found work as a janitor at the Rams'€™ home stadium.

Fast forward to 2014, where Alexander has the chance to play in the same building where he toiled as a custodian less than two years ago.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound safety returned to the Aggies in 2013 and was named an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference player. He ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at this year's NFL Scouting Combine.
