Raiders sign Pro Bowl wideout/kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson
The Oakland Raiders upgraded their return game in a big way Monday night, signing Pro Bowl wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.
The 25-year-old, who spent his first four years with the Vikings, had a career-high 52 catches last season and two touchdowns in eight starts. But Patterson has really made his mark on special teams, leading the league in kick return average three of his first four years.
Patterson has returned five kickoffs for touchdowns in his career and three times has returned kicks more than 100 yards. Patterson was named to the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro last season and in 2013.
The move addresses a glaring weakness on the Raiders’ 2016 team, which finished 26th in kick return yards and failed to return a kickoff for a touchdown.
