Raiders GM would welcome Woodson's return for 18th NFL season

When it comes to his NFL future, safety Charles Woodson should know he has a fan in Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie.

McKenzie said Wednesday that he would like Woodson to return for an 18th NFL season in 2015 and has expressed the same to new Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio. Speaking on Wednesday at the Reese's Senior Bowl, McKenzie said he plans to speak with Woodson in the coming weeks about his football plans.

"He's fine physically," McKenzie told co-host Mark Dominik and me on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "It's going to be totally up to Charles and the new coaching staff.

"I already talked to those guys about him. I would like to get him back here if he wants to play. If he's all-in 100 percent, I want him back."

Woodson, 38, was one of the bright spots last year during Oakland's 3-13 campaign. He finished with a career-high 113 tackles and registered four interceptions, his highest total since the 2011 campaign with Green Bay.

Considered a future Pro Football Hall of Fame selection, Woodson said last November that he hoped to continue playing. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent March 10 when the 2015 NFL calendar year begins.
