Philadelphia Eagles: What's Nelson Agholor's status for Sunday?

Will Nelson Agholor play on Sunday?

It’s been a weird set of circumstances for the Philadelphia Eagles over these past two weeks. Hang out on social media, and you’d think every issue with this team is the result of one man being a member. Nelson Agholor has been the subject of some very derogatory comments and a ton of criticism. His statements about “being in his own head” brought another very serious question into focus. Mental health issues are a concern for so many Americans. Agholor’s statements remind us of the fact that there are more important things than football, and even though we’ve been just as critical about Agholor’s performance as anyone, we at Inside The Iggles hope he will be okay.

With all that being said, there are still games to be played. Other questions have come into focus following Agholor’s statements and the decision to make him a healthy scratch for last Monday’s game. Should he leave the game of football and focus on being a happier and healthier person? If he struggles with things that are so simple as lining up, should he even be on the field in the first place? How should we feel about him if he sits out another game? We may know the answer soon enough. The second-year wide receiver was on the practice field this week.

Take a look:

Yes, Agholor has irritated us as we’ve watched him play football. Yes, he’s lined up incorrectly on two separate occasions, and both times have cost the team severely. Other factors are at play now. The Eagles are still in the playoff hunt. They’re banged up, and they’re asking a lot of guys with minimal experience to play key roles. Believe it or not, the Eagles need Agholor on the field. Will he be there though? Head coach Doug Pederson was asked about this recently.

Here’s what he said:

We’ll need a better answer than that very soon. The Eagles are in Cincinnati tomorrow and are scheduled to play a game at 1:00 PM. If Agholor isn’t on the field, we may need to ask if he’s cut out for the NFL. It sounds blunt and may sound cruel, but that’s life in professional football.
