Philadelphia Eagles release linebacker Myke Tavarres
The Philadelphia Eagles have begun their final round of cuts.
The Philadelphia Eagles‘ first of 22 roster cuts has been made (that we know of).
In an unsurprising move, the Eagles have cut undrafted linebacker Myke Tavarres. Turron Davenport of USA Today originally broke the news via Twitter.

Tavarres was fighting an uphill battle trying to make the Eagles’ 53-man roster. Undrafted out of Incarnate Word, Tavarres showed good athleticism this preseason, but failed to show much else in live game action. Ultimately, the signing of Stephen Tulloch was when Tavarres’ chances really took a nosedive.
Another possible motive to Tavarres’ release could stem from his plan to join Colin Kaepernick in sitting during the National Anthem in the Eagles’ final preseason game against the New York Jets, which he ultimately did stand for. Despite his decision to stand, his initial intent became a distraction for the Eagles. An undrafted rookie should not be more focused on trying to take a political stand than trying to make a football team.
This is the first of many cuts to come over the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for may updates as they arise.
