PFF analyst picks Texans to win Super Bowl LII

One analyst from Pro Football Focus believes the Houston Texans will win Super Bowl LII next season.

Pro Football Focus had their analysts list who they believe will win the big game next season.  While most picked the New England Patriots or Oakland Raiders, Gordon McGuinness believes the Texans will become champions in 2017.

I picked the Texans to go all the way this year, and I’m doubling down again in 2016. What held them back this year was the struggles of Brock Osweiler at quarterback. I think they go out and get a veteran QB this year (Hot-take alert: they should try to trade for the backup quarterback from the cross-state Dallas Cowboys). Fix the QB spot, and the Texans have an offense that can click, with DeAndre Hopkins at wide receiver and Lamar Miller in the backfield. Defensively, they have in trio of pass-rushers that can do serious damage, with Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus combining to registered 14 sacks, 25 hits and 74 hurries in 2016. Add in a fully healthy J.J. Watt, and they are going to get after opposing quarterbacks all throughout January of next year.

While the Texans aren’t my pick to win it all next year, it’s not a far-fetched idea.  Let’s be honest, as bad as their offense was in 2016, they don’t need Brock Osweiler and company to improve that much.

Look at the 2015 Broncos.  Peyton Manning was purely a game manager.  Denver won Super Bowl 50 because of a historically great defense and a very good running game. The Texans can do the same.

The Texans have the talent on defense. All they need is for Osweiler to cut down on his mistakes.
