Peyton is not happy that Demaryius has no contract

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is not happy that star wide receiver does not have a new contract.

Additionally, Rapoport reported that he doesn’t think Thomas will show up to training camp if no deal is done by the July 15 deadline, which marks the day that players who received the franchise tag must sign off on the tender.

The absence of Thomas is an impediment to Manning. He benefits from having all pass catchers on hand to build a strong base in the team’s new offense under first-year head coach Gary Kubiak. The issue for the Broncos is that Thomas is requesting similar money to Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who is currently playing under an eight-year, $130 million contact.

Considering Manning is nearing the end of the line, his success with the Broncos depends heavily on having Thomas to rely on. After all, the former first-round pick has put up nearly 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns over the past three years.

Something needs to get done in short order if the Manning and the Broncos are going to have Thomas on hand when training camp opens later this summer.
