Peter King: The Chiefs could trade up for wide receiver help

One of the NFL's preeminent writers thinks Kansas City will be aggressive come draft night.

In his mock draft, the MMQB's Peter King has Louisville's DeVante Parker sliding to No. 15 overall. King thinks John Dorsey would pick up the phone and trade up with the 49ers to get Paker in red and gold.

"I would be surprised if Parker is still hanging around at this pick, but if he is, I think Chiefs GM John Dorsey would jump at the chance to grab him — especially ahead of Houston, which wants a receiver high in this draft," King wrote. "The 6-2 ½ Parker’s a perfect pick for Dorsey and Andy Reid."

Parker's physicality brings something to the table that Jeremy Maclin and the current Chiefs receiving stable doesn't. And King added he "might argue that no contending team has as big a single position need as Kansas City at wide receiver."

It wouldn't be the first time Kansas City dealt with this 49ers regime about a wide receiver. Dorsey and 49ers GM Trent Baalke swapped Jon Baldwin for A.J. Jenkins two seasons ago, and while that move didn't work out, at least there's some familiarity between the two decision-makers.
