Paul Kruger calls out the Browns on Twitter for 'completely' mishandling his release

Teams across the NFL are working toward cutting down their rosters to reach the 75-man limit before Tuesday’s deadline. As a result, hundreds of players are going to be without jobs in the next few days, and even more will be in the same boat when rosters are reduced to 53 shortly thereafter.

The Browns made a couple of moves on Monday, releasing quarterback Austin Davis and outside linebacker Paul Kruger. It’s safe to assume neither player is happy about being cut, but Kruger was particularly angry.

He issued a statement on Twitter thanking the Browns and wishing them the best, but at the same time, he called them out for making “absolutely the wrong decision.

“Although completely miss handled (sic), unfortunate and absolutely the wrong decision to release me I do wish the Browns and especially my teammate brothers great success,” Kruger said on Twitter.

Kruger signed a five-year, $40.5 million deal with the Browns in 2013. He started all but two games since arriving in Cleveland, racking up 18 sacks in three seasons. By no means was he one of the worst players on the Browns’ lackluster roster, but his contract was a hefty one for the production they were getting from him.
