Patriots WR Julian Edelman reportedly leaves practice with injury

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman came off the PUP list and returned to practice Sunday, but he gave the team a scare during Tuesday’s joint workout with the Saints when he left with an injury.

Edelman, who underwent minor foot surgery in May, threw his helmet in disgust, and the Patriots’ trainer was looking at his lower left leg. He sat on a cart for a bit before leaving the field on his own, according to observers.

It turns out, though, that he should be fine.

Edelman, 30, broke his left foot last November, ending his regular season with 61 catches and 692 yards in seven games. He returned for two playoff games, recording 17 catches for 153 yards. The May surgery reportedly was to reinsert a screw from a past procedure, and Edelman had been looking great against Saints DBs on Tuesday before the setback.
