Panthers GM running third day of the NFL Draft via Skype

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman says is running the third day of the NFL draft remotely via Skype from Worcester, Massachusetts.

Gettleman's son, Sam, is graduating from Becker College and he wanted to be on hand to see the ceremony in person. Gettleman said the decision was approved by Panthers owner Jerry Richardson in March.

Gettleman is flew to Worcester on Saturday morning but said the ceremony won't conflict with the NFL draft. He says "Through the process of technology, nothing will change. The process will be exactly the same."

Panthers coach Ron Rivera, a former defensive coordinator, joked, "If all four picks are defense, you know what happened."

Gettleman picked Tre Boston in the fourth round (128 overall) on Saturday, with one each round.
