Panthers don't draft offensive tackle for 2nd straight year
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Panthers bypassed selecting a left tackle with a high pick in the NFL draft for the second straight year.
The Panthers still have five picks entering Saturday - including three in the fifth round - to address that need, but it's unlikely they'll find a player talented enough to step in and compete for a starting job right away. Carolina signed free agent Michael Oher this offseason to a two-year deal in hopes he can be a stopgap there.
The Panthers traded away their second, third and sixth round draft picks on Friday night to move up 16 spots in the second round to get Michigan wide receiver Devin Funchess. That comes after the team drafted Washington linebacker Shaw Thompson in the first round.
