Packers seem ready to get Aaron Rodgers on the field

Spotting Aaron Rodgers in the preseason is getting more difficult every year, but it sounds like the Green Bay Packers are just about ready to give fans their only glimpse of the two-time league MVP in Friday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Rodgers was never going to play in the Packers’ Hall of Fame Game matchup with the Colts that was canceled, and then he sat out the next two weeks as well. The Packers well know the dangers of preseason after an August injury to No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson derailed their offense in 2015, but associate head coach Tom Clements told reporters Monday, via ESPN, that Rodgers does need to get on the field at least once before the season begins:

Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that playing Rodgers Friday is in the team’s plans:

Lasts year, Rodgers played in the Packers’ first two preseason games and skipped the last two. He hasn’t played in the fourth preseason game since 2012, so it’s likely that whatever work he gets in Friday will be his last until Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
