Packers No. 1 CB Sam Shields reportedly will be placed on IR

The Green Bay Packers have been playing without No. 1 cornerback Sam Shields since he suffered a concussion in Week 1, and now it appears he’s headed to injured reserve.

Shields, 28, has had five concussions in his seven-year NFL career but seems to hope he can be ready in eight weeks, which is another indication he's going on IR.

The Packers enter Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bears with massive injury problems at cornerback. Nos. 2 and 3 corners Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins – the team’s top two picks in the 2015 draft -- both have groin injuries and missed practice Tuesday.
