Packers DT Letroy Guion suspended for second time in three seasons

The Green Bay Packers will begin the 2017 season without one of their top defensive players. The league announced on Tuesday that nose tackle Letroy Guion has been suspended four games for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.

This is a substantial loss for Green Bay as he’s been one of the Packers' top run defenders for years. However, his play fell off a bit last season, which may make him expendable.

If they do wind up releasing him, they’ll save $3.3 million in cap space – a good amount for a player who’s had some trouble in the past.

This is the second time Guion has been suspended, with his first coming in 2015. He has two years left on his deal, which was signed last offseason, but it was a team-friendly contract that allowed the Packers to move on in Year 2.

It may be time for the Packers to cut ties with the veteran defensive tackle.
