Obama: Tom Brady is perfect example of why we need unions

By Rachel Wold

President Barack Obama spoke at a Labor Day rally Monday in Boston where he claimed New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is a classic example of why the United States needs unions.

Brady could certainly attest to Obama’s statement, because the NFL Players Association was key in getting his four-game suspension overturned in federal court.

Last week, Judge Richard M. Berman ruled against the NFL when he vacated Brady’s suspension, which commissioner Roger Goodell initially levied against the quarterback for his alleged role in “Deflategate.”

In this particular case, having the support of a powerful union definitely paid off for Brady. And, how proud Brady must have been to be the topic of one of the President’s speeches.
