Oakland Raiders 7th in Post-Super Bowl Power Rankings
Post-Super Bowl Power Rankings are starting to come out, and at least one major publications has the Oakland Raiders ranked 7th.
Power Rankings are something we kept tabs on throughout the regular season, if not for any reason other than it’s just interesting to see how the Oakland Raiders are being portrayed in the national media.
For the most part, the Silver and Black were given a fairly high amount of respect each week. And after finishing with a 12-4 record, that respect certainly was justified.
We all know the Raiders were poised for a first-round bye, staring at a potential 13-3 record. But with Carr’s injury and the final two games of the year, the wind was taken out of Oakland’s sails. For early 2017 power rankings, would that have any affect on their standing?
Fox Sports has put out a list looking ahead to 2017, and the Raiders rank 7th. Here is what Fox had to say in regard to Oakland’s ranking:
If not for Derek Carr’s crushing leg injury, the Raiders likely would have made a deep run into the postseason. Unfortunately, it wasn’t their year, but there is plenty of hope in Oakland. They have Carr, the Defensive Player of the Year in Khalil Mack and a top-three offensive line, so they’ll certainly be back in the mix next season – likely better than they were in 2016.
The top six — from sixth to first — are as follows:
The Chiefs rank just behind the Raiders, at 8th. And then Broncos aren’t too far behind them, at 10th.
What do you think about Oakland’s 2017 power ranking? Too high, too low, or just right?
