NFL Rumors: 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke Destined for the Broncos in 2017?
The San Francisco 49ers appear likely to jettison general manager Trent Baalke after an abysmal 2016 season. And a report from CSN Bay Area suggests Baalke would be en route to the Denver Broncos if the Niners part ways with him.
If CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora is correct, the San Francisco 49ers will be parting ways with general manager Trent Baalke this offseason.

We could go into the dozens of reasons why letting Baalke go makes sense. But most fans probably know the majority of these already. The Niners are in the tank, the roster stinks and a good deal of that falls on the GM’s shoulders.
But there’s a new development in the Baalke-49ers saga.
CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, citing numerous sources, reported Baalke would most likely be heading to the Denver Broncos if San Francisco dismissed him after this season.
Maiocco also pointed out the close relationship Baalke has with Broncos executive John Elway:
Baalke, widely respected around the NFL for his work ethic as a college talent evaluator, is known to have a good relationship with John Elway, the Broncos’ executive vice president of football operations/general manager. Baalke and Elway have spent time considerable together while the 49ers and Broncos held joint practices each of the past two summers.
This relationship was also on display when the 49ers and Broncos discussed a possible trade of quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
The two sides never reached an agreement, but the fact there was a conversation is merely another link.
If Baalke is dismissed, signs are pointing to him joining the ranks under Elway. Although exactly what capacity is unknown.
