2024 NFL odds: C.J. Stroud jumps Mahomes as favorite for most passing yards
Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins led the NFL in passing yards in 2023 with 4,624. However, he isn't favored to repeat the feat this upcoming season.
In that category, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is at the top of the board.
Stroud, however, didn't open as the favorite; Chiefs' QB Patrick Mahomes did.
But over the last two months, Stroud's odds have shortened to +700 from +800, while Mahomes has shifted to +850 from +650.
Let's take a look at the latest odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.

*odds as of 9/4/24
The current favorite, Stroud (+700) is coming off a 2023 season in which he passed for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns.
His stellar play during his first year in the league helped him earn Rookie of the Year honors as he led Houston to the postseason.
Second on the board is Mahomes at +850. He had his second-lowest passing yardage season a year ago, with 4,183 yards thrown. Mahomes has led the NFL in passing yards just once, back in the 2022-23 season.
With the addition of Marquise Brown and rookie wideout Xavier Worthy, can Mahomes improve upon his numbers from last season?

Craig Carton discussed the Chiefs offense and how he believes they will throw the ball downfield more.
"That's the whole reason you bring in Hollywood Brown and draft Xavier Worthy out of Texas, who runs a 4.2. Andy Reid, throughout his coaching career, has always believed in having the ability to throw the ball deep and open the offense more."

Rounding out the top five is Tua Tagovailoa at +1000. His odds shortened slightly from +1100 over the past two months.
Despite only throwing the ball on 57.4% of snaps, Tagovailoa still racked up the most passing yards a season ago. The Dolphins were ranked 15th — essentially middle of the pack — in passing play percentage.
Miami will bring in Odell Beckham Jr. to compliment an already stacked wide receiver room, which includes Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
