Minor shoulder injury can't keep Jeffery out of practice -- at first
The Chicago Bears need Alshon Jeffery to display his toughness, since he's slated to step in as the team's top wide receiver in 2015. On Sunday, he suffered a minor AC joint sprain but was able to finish practice, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.
By overcoming an early injury, Jeffery is taking the first step in replacing Brandon Marshall in Chicago's offense. So far, Bears head coach John Fox likes what he's seen out of the fourth-year pass-catcher.
"I’ve liked what he’s done and like the way he competes," Fox said, via ESPN. "He’s got a big wingspan and a big ball radius as far as plucking catches away from defenders. I’ve liked what I’ve seen."
When the Bears returned to practice on Monday, however, Jeffery was on the sideline, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
Jeffery has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards each of the past two seasons and has caught 20 career touchdowns. He'll garner a lot more attention as the No. 1 receiver in 2015, so it's going to get tougher for him to maintain that production.
