Minnesota Vikings CB Trae Waynes faces a 'steep' learning curve

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes is trying to catch on at one of the NFL's most athletically demanding positions, and he recently sounded off on the learning curve he faces as a first-round rookie.

"It's steep," Waynes said, via Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News. "It's like a mountain, but luckily we have guys on the team and the coaching staff that are willing to help you out through that process."

Waynes was the 11th-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and the first cornerback selected in this year's class. With Xavier Rhodes and Terrance Newman ahead of him on the depth chart, Katzenstein believes Waynes may need to master the nickel back role if he wants to find the field as a rookie.

"It's a new experience, but I'm enjoying it," Waynes told The Detroit News. "It's a lot more to learn, but I've just got to get my head in the playbook and learn every day."

With that type of work ethic, it'll be tough to keep Waynes on the sideline for too long.
