Miami Dolphins returning to London in 2017 to host Saints

The NFL announced at least one of their games for the 2017 London slate and the Miami Dolphins will host the New Orleans Saints.

Profootballtalk reported the news from a “league source” today. The Bengals and Redskins are currently playing in London this morning.

PFT points out that Miami was likely to give up a home game as part of deal with the NFL to get the 2020 Super Bowl back to Miami. The NFL requires any team that wants to host a Super Bowl to give up a home game to play overseas.

It’s not the first time obviously that Miami has played in London. The Dolphins have played there the last two seasons in week four. Last year the Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin after the flight home. A year before that the Dolphins beat the Raiders leading to the Raiders firing their head coach.

Three games have been played in Great Britain the last two seasons so it’s likely three games will be played in 2017 as well. The other games as well as the date and location of the Dolphins home game has not been released.
