McCoy: Chip got rid of all the black players for a reason
In an interview with ESPN the Magazine, former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy opened up about his sudden departure from the Eagles in an offseason trade to the Buffalo Bills. McCoy held nothing back. He commented on Chip Kelly's relationship with his players, with McCoy himself, and with other African American players on the roster.
“The relationship was never really great,” McCoy said. “I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that’s the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That’s the truth. There’s a reason."
“It’s hard to explain with him. But there’s a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.”
McCoy did not follow up his ominous comments with any detail or examples, so the "reason" that he mentions will likely go unexplained. At this point, it is not known if the Eagles organization or Chip Kelly will respond to the allegations made by McCoy.
