Matthew Stafford is "Built Ford Tough"

The Lions improved to 4-3 on the season after defeating the Redskins in week 7. Certainly, QB Matthew Stafford has raised the standard.

No TE Eric Ebron, OLB DeAndre LevyHB Theo Riddick, HB Ameer Abdullah a banged up DE Ezekiel Ansah, an early week 7 injury to DB Darius Slay, and yet still the Detroit Lions find a way to get it done.

Be aware, the Lions last three match-ups were against a 3-1 Los Angeles Rams team, 4-0 Eagles team and a 4-2 Redskins team. Close wins in all, the Lions crowd full of vigor has been the strength of Detroit this season. A Lions rushing attack is averaging around 76 yards per game and ranks 25th in the National Football League leaving the Lions defense on the field for extensive amounts of time (explains why they are banged up) and forcing QB Matthew Stafford to show his franchise worth.

Worthy is the name “Stafford.” Under much scrutiny, QB Matthew Stafford has raised the standard for the Lions taking on the responsibility of leading the team to victory despite the shortcomings. In the last three Lions victories, Stafford has thrown 60/75 on pass attempts (70% completion rate), 8 touchdowns, and not a single interception. It might be too soon to pencil Stafford in for NFL MVP but at this rate, maturations of elitism are surely becoming solidified for Matthew.

This team is extremely balanced, lacking nothing but the experience and confidence to push them over the hump of mediocrity. Ups and downs in the NFL are inevitable and the resilience the Lions have shown to push through a 1-3 start is surely due to the off-season changes in administration. It’s more than tacking on another “W” to the season record. It’s about the unifying maturation of a franchise and the process of metamorphosis from the “same old Lions” to the “Detroit Lions.”
