Marshawn Lynch could face fine for wearing 'Beast Mode' hat

UPDATE: If the NFL fines Marshawn Lynch for wearing an unauthorized "Beast Mode" hat at Super Bowl Media Day, the Seattle Seahawks star could make a case for the league office being a bunch of hypocrites.

Why? Well, the NFL's Twitter account tweeted a pic of Lynch wearing the hat as part of a promotion. We're guessing that wasn't authorized, either.

Marshawn Lynch went out of his way at Media Day to tell everyone that he was there so he wouldn't get fined.

The star Seattle Seahawks running back might be facing a fine anyway. Lynch wore an unauthorized "Beast Mode" hat during his appearance Tuesday and could incur a significant fine from the league, ESPN reports. FOX NFL insider Mike Garafolo also referenced the possibility of a fine on "FOX Sports Live" Tuesday night, in addition to his recent column.

Lynch answered every question from the nearly 200 media members with the same response: ''I'm here so I don't get fined.'' He left after five minutes, the minimum amount of time required by the league.

Lynch is no stranger to being fined.

In November, the NFL fined Lynch $50,000 for violations of the league's media policy in addition to collecting the $50,000 fine that was imposed against Lynch for violations last season. The fine from 2013 was held in anticipation of future cooperation from Lynch.

Lynch also was fined $20,000 for making an obscene gesture during Seattle's overtime win over Green Bay in the NFC championship game. The league did not specify what the gesture was, but Lynch grabbed his crotch after scoring a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Lynch was fined $11,000 for a similar gesture in Seattle's win over Arizona on Dec. 21.
