Mariota notches unhappy milestone in loss to Jets
In a season filled of firsts for Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, Sunday's 30-8 loss to the New York Jets saw one he would just as easily do without.
With the Jets leading 10-0 in the first quarter, New York cornerback Buster Skrine picked off Mariota, marking the first time the No. 2 overall selection in the 2015 draft has thrown an interception on the road. Mariota entered Sunday's game having thrown 12 touchdowns on the road without an interception in four road games.
“(Skrine) played it pretty well,” Mariota said, per the Tennessean. “I think it was, played it pretty well. We had the match-up we wanted inside. He just kind of covered it well. I should’ve just eaten the ball instead of putting our team in a bad spot.”
Mariota's interception led to a New York field goal.
