Marcus Peters and Chris Conley returning kicks for the Chiefs

Chris Conley was one of the fastest guys at the NFL Combine. It's no surprise that the Chiefs would want him back to return some kicks.

But their first-round pick? He's in the running for that job, too.

Both Conley and cornerback Marcus Peters fielded kickoffs during a windy rookie minicamp. And both draft picks impressed head coach Andy Reid.

"...It looked like they handled it pretty well," Reid said. "We've had a couple windy days here, so the ball has been all over the place, but they've handled it."

It'll be tough for either rookie to unseat the dangerous De'Anthony Thomas. Until then, Reid is looking for this next Knile Davis -- not necessarily the most dangerous return man, but someone who can step in and provide added value if an injury or emergency happens.

"(Special teams coordinator) "Dave (Toub) has everybody back there," Reid said, "and he tries them and even guys that haven't done it that might have some potential. I think it's a good thing."
