Marcus Mariota named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Last Sunday's four-touchdown performance helped Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota win the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award, the NFL announced Wednesday.
Mariota was given the honor after completing 13-of-16 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns in his regular-season debut. The rookie also compiled a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in the 42-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Per the team's official website, Mariota is the first player with a minimum of 10 attempts to have a perfect passer rating in his debut since at least 1933.
The second overall pick in this year's NFL draft, Mariota is the first Titan to win the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award since former running back Chris Johnson in 2012.
