Man who shipped guns to ex-Patriot Aaron Hernandez to be sentenced
A man who shipped guns to former New England Patriots player and convicted killer Aaron Hernandez is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Boston.
Oscar Hernandez, no relation to Aaron, has pleaded guilty to charges including gun conspiracy and lying to a grand jury.
Oscar Hernandez shipped several guns from Florida to Aaron Hernandez in Massachusetts two months before the then-star tight end killed a man in 2013. He did not supply the murder weapon.
His lawyer says his client was awed by a celebrity and asked the judge to sentence him to 1 year and 1 day, longer than he has been in custody.
Prosecutors want a sentence of 2 years and 8 months because of the seriousness of his crimes.
