Most of the talk around Louisville football of late has been about star QB Lamar Jackson, but not enough is being said about his wide receivers.

One name in particular that should get some recognition is James Quick. Here’s a young man who has gotten steadily better each year for the Cardinals and boasts an intriguing skill set that may interest NFL teams down the road. One thing that stick out about him is his knack for the big play. Never was that clearer than in the latest meeting between Louisville and #2 ranked Florida State.

Ahead 28-10 late in the 2nd quarter, the Cardinals were trying to widen their lead. Jackson dropped back to pass. After a quick survey of the field he fired a pass low to Quick towards the right sideline. Florida State had it well-covered and actually tipped the ball. What happened next though was a mix of luck and good concentration to create one of the wackiest plays of the year.

That score all but put the game out of reach for the Seminoles in what could turn out to be one of their more crushing defeats in recent memory. For Louisville it may just be the signature win for a pretty special season. As for Quick, that singular play will be highlighted and replayed for months to come and may just give him a needed boost to his draft stock.
