Los Angeles Rams QB Case Keenum Could Be in Trouble Against Carolina Panthers

Case Keenum could be in trouble against a defense of the Carolina Panthers that came alive in Week 9.

With the Los Angeles Rams entering the bye week losing each of their last three games, there’s been plenty of questions surrounding whether Case Keenum is the answer for the team at quarterback.

Even though the Rams have a slight advantage of being extra rested as they prepare for their Week 9 matchup, Keenum could be in for a long afternoon against a defense of the Carolina Panthers that is coming off their best performance of the season on Sunday.

For a team that has struggled for the most part in 2016, the Panthers’ defense came out strong against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, showing signs of similarity to the unit that helped this team represent the NFC in last year’s Super Bowl. Not only did Carolina return an early fumble for a 46-yard touchdown in the first few minutes of the game, but the defense ended up recording eight sacks on Carson Palmer.

When considering the team had allowed their opponents to score at least 41 points in two of the previous three games prior to Sunday, this performance was a major confidence boost for the Panthers heading into their next game against the Rams.

Unfortunately, the offensive line has been an issue for Los Angeles over their last couple of games, and when looking at how much pressure Palmer received in Week 8, it’s hard not to wonder if Keenum is going to face similar issues at quarterback. If anything, the Rams could be the unfortunate victims of playing against a Panthers’ team that seems more determined than ever to finally get the ball rolling on their season.

As bad as it sounds, Keenum could be in for another rough outing if Carolina’s defense plays like they did against Arizona, which is the last thing a veteran fighting for his starting job needs to deal with.
