Longtime kicker pens his heartfelt farewell to the NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers released longtime kicker Shaun Suisham on Friday, ending his six-year tenure with the franchise.

Unfortunately, this also could be the end of Suisham's NFL career.

Suisham suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the NFL's Hall of Fame Game last August, and he has had a setback. Calling the injury "catastrophic" and "critical," he shared this letter with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

During his six seasons with the Steelers, Suisham made 124 of his 141 field-goal attempts and connected on all 173 of his extra-point attempts.

He debuted with the Dallas Cowboys in the 2005 season and also played for the Washington Redskins before joining the Steelers in 2010.
