Lance Moore: Playing for Lions made football 'fun' again

Before signing with the Detroit Lions last spring, it looked like Lance Moore's career might be over. The veteran wide receiver caught just 14 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns in 2014 -- his lone season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Playing for the Lions, however, has revitalized Moore.

I Tweeted (after the season ended last Sunday) thanking the fans of Detroit and the Lions organization for making football fun again for me. Last year (2014) was a tough year for me and it became a lot more like work.

Coming in here this season with a fresh start and another opportunity – in my mind I’m a receiver and I’ve got a little bit of diva in me, I want the ball and I want to score touchdowns and stuff like that -- but just making football fun again was important to me and it’s refreshed my mind.

Moore, 32, played in 14 games (eight starts) this season, recording 29 catches for 337 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers fell far short of the statistics he produced with the New Orleans Saints from 2005-2013, but they weren't bad for a complimentary receiver in an arsenal of targets that also included Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, as well as running back Theo Riddick and tight end Eric Ebron.

Moore will be a free agent this spring, so he'll need a new contract to stay in Detroit for his 11th NFL season.
