Kubiak sits Manning, other Broncos veterans after Clady injury

Gary Kubiak called a different kind of timeout at Broncos' OTAs.

Younger players like Brock Osweiler subbed in. Veterans like Peyton Manning sat out. And Kubiak got to press the reset button on a nightmare start to his rule in Denver.

"I sat 10 veterans in practice which I had planned to do and I'm going to continue to do on a regular basis," Kubiak told 9News Denver. "And you're getting a look at the young players on your football team.''

Kubiak's in-practice youth movement might have more to do with the mindset of his team than he's letting on. Left tackle Ryan Clady became the second Bronco to be lost for the season, joining rookie tight end Jeff Heuerman.

So Kubiak sat Manning and others, like Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Owen Daniels, Aqib Talib and Emmanuel Sanders.

Perhaps a practice off will be enough to let those veterans put the team's rash of early injuries behind them.
