Kelce 'bleacher creature' serving as Eagles' good luck charm?

The Philadelphia Eagles broke out of their early-season doldrums in Sunday’s 39-17 throttling of the New Orleans Saints, racking up 516 yards of offense and finally appearing to be the juggernaut expected courtesy of Chip Kelly’s mad scientist methods.

So, what got the team over the hump? A better game plan? Better execution by the much-maligned offensive line?

Sure, those two things, among others, probably played a part, but some in the Eagles locker room are crediting – albeit jokingly — the appearance on Wednesday of a plush Jason Kelce “bleacher creature” hanging in Lane Johnson’s locker.

Kelce is of course the Eagles’ center, and Johnson, the team’s right tackle, commented on the sudden and seemingly fortuitous arrival of a “bleacher creature” in Kelce’s image in the locker room.

“I honestly don’t know,” Johnson said of the apparent good luck charm, via NJ.com. “I think Jason Peters or somebody put it up last week. We ended up winning, so I’m just going to keep it there.”

Johnson even intimated that there may be some shenanigans going on involving the “bleacher creature,” such things reminiscent of the classic baseball film, “Major League,” and the character Pedro Serrano.

“We had to make some sort of sacrifice to get something going,” he said. “That’s the closest thing we could get.”
