Julio Jones' Super Bowl Cleats Show Love for Atlanta (Photo)
Atlanta Falcons superstar wide receiver Julio Jones is paying homage to the city of Atlanta and to the rap group Migos with his Super Bowl 51 cleats.
Two weeks ago, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones completely dismantled the Green Bay Packers barely-there secondary, hauling in nine passes on 12 targets for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Jones’ explosiveness after the catch and huge catch radius were on display against Green Bay, and he could have a big say in Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots despite potentially needing offseason toe surgery.
With that said, Jones is as hyped up as anyone for Super Bowl 51, and he’s rocking some sick cleats. Not only are the cleats in the team’s and city’s black-and-red, but the motifs all relate to the city of Atlanta. The cleats, which are by UnderArmour, read “Atlanta” and feature various staples and landmarks of the city:

In fact, you may notice that the image on the cleats looks quite similar to Migos’s album “Culture.” Migos is a rap group that hails from the Atlanta area, and there was a petition to have them perform at the Super Bowl halftime show over Lady Gaga.
The image isn’t exactly what’s on the album cover, and one of the most apparent differences is the image of Jones on his own cleats. That’s a nice touch, and there’s nothing wrong with arguably the best receiver in the game giving himself a shoutout on his own cleats. After all, he is a big part of the city of Atlanta, and the 1,400-yard man could be a big reason for the Falcons capturing a Super Bowl ring on Sunday.
Jones heads into this game on a tear, having scored four touchdowns in his past four games with no less than 60 receiving yards in each of his past five contests. He’s a potential Super Bowl MVP and postseason MVP candidate, catching passes from regular season MVP Matt Ryan.
