Julian Edelman lists top five receivers, omits Dez Bryant
By Rachel Wold
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was asked who he thought the NFL’s list of top five wide receivers are, and Dez Bryant didn’t make it on his list.
Edelman was hosting the AMA on Reddit and rattled off his five top wide receivers.
“Odell, Jordy Nelson, Steve Smith, Julio is the best, Demaryius Thomas…no particular order just guys that are.”
Left off of Edelman’s list is Bryant, who caught more touchdowns than any other receiver in 2014. Additionally, Edelman left off Antonio Brown, who was last year’s top wide receiver off as well.
We can perhaps assume that Dez didn’t cross Edelman’s mind because he is off on injury leave. However, Edelman included Nelson, who has missed the whole season due to an ACL tear. Nevertheless, Edelman is entitled to his own choices for top wide receiver, just as we are.
That said, Bryant has been known to get a bit fiery about rankings, as displayed by his rant about his Madden rating. He might not take too kindly to Edelman’s list, and will be interesting to see if word gets around to the outspoken wide receiver.
