Jimmy Wilson is no longer a Chargers safety
Oceanside native Jimmy Wilson won't get a chance to play in what could be the San Diego Chargers' final home game.
The team waived Wilson, a reserve safety, and promoted defensive back Adrian Phillips off its practice squad.
Wilson waged a losing battle with strong safety Jahleel Addae this summer. He settled for a reserve role, but the team decided to get out from under his two-year, $4.25 million contract.
He still started 13 games with 41 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.
