Jets sign draft picks Christian Hackenberg, Charone Peake
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets have signed quarterback Christian Hackenberg, their second-round draft pick, and wide receiver Charone Peake, a seventh-rounder, to four-year contracts.
The deal signed Thursday by Hackenberg is worth a total of $4.66 million and includes a $1.6 million signing bonus.
Hackenberg threw 16 touchdowns with six interceptions last season for the Nittany Lions. In three seasons at Penn State, he set the school marks for career yards passing, completions and touchdowns.
Peake is a speedy receiver who rebounded from knee injuries to have his best college season last season, catching 50 passes for 716 yards and five TDs for Clemson.
First-rounder Darron Lee and third-rounder Jordan Jenkins, both linebackers, are the only players of the Jets' seven picks to not yet sign.
