Jets' Ryan Fitzpatrick calls Brandon Marshall 'one of the best'
New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall went through somewhat of an up-and-down week both on and off the field. Prior to Sunday's game, Marshall wasn't exactly happy with his lack of recognition as one of the best receivers in the league.
He then went out and caught 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, but in doing so, he had an embarrassing mental blunder. In the second quarter, he inexplicably tried to lateral the ball back to a trailing defender, resulting in a fumble recovery for the Philadelphia Eagles. Marshall would go on to call it the worst play in NFL history.
Unfortunately, the botched lateral overshadowed a great game for Marshall, but his quarterback has moved on from the gaffe.
"He's a big, physical guy," Fitzpatrick told reporters in the locker room on Monday.
Marshall, standing next to Fitzpatrick, and chimed in and asked, "Am I one of the best?"
"You're one of the best, man. You're one of the best," Fitzpatrick said with a smile.
Marshall would go on to ask Fitzpatrick to rank him in the top-10, but his quarterback was reluctant to give him a number.
"I've played with a lot of good ones," Fitzpatrick said with a laugh. "Right now, you're my favorite at this very moment."
It was a light-hearted exchange between Fitzpatrick and Marshall, and showed the type of chemistry the two have together.
