Jets reportedly contacted Cowboys about trading for DE Sheldon Richardson
The New York Jets reached out to the Dallas Cowboys to gauge Dallas’ interest in acquiring defensive end Sheldon Richardson, ESPN reported Tuesday.
The Jets reportedly have been actively shopping the former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. According to the ESPN report, the Cowboys are unlikely to pursue Richardson because the Jets’ asking price is too high.
Richardson, who was taken with the 13th pick in the 2013 draft, has been suspended twice for off-field troubles. He will be a free agent at the end of the season and likely command a lucrative deal.
In 50 career games with the Jets, Richardson has 207 tackles and 18 sacks. This season, he has 28 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
